For my starting point I decided to go to the ITV website, to look at these two programmes in more depth. On The Jeremy Kyle Shows page, Jeremy Kyle himself quotes " What this show does is to give you perspective on your own life. I often tell myself that I must never complain again about not getting enough kip, or something minor going wrong. Many of the people I meet face terror and tragedy in their lives – and they keep going. I really admire them". I love the idea of creating an exaggerated script based on the everyday scenarios my friends tell me, and asking them to play themselves in my programme. I feel this will add a realistic effect to my production and could perhaps form something humorous and relatable to the target audience (18-35 'millennials'). Emmerdale is one of Britain's best-loved and popular long-running soaps.                I continued my research by looking at both ITV's and Channel 5's television schedules. I picked 5 factual and 5 fictional for each channel, noting down its; genre, target audience, synopsis, channel and time.
